Classical Church Goods Brass Missal Stand, CCG-260
A traditional missal stand in polished, lacquered brass with a 14 by 10.5 in book rest and an 8 in height at the back.
A missal stand holds the Roman Missal or sacramentary on the altar at a reading angle. A lectern or pulpit holds the lectionary and notes for readers and speakers. Altar stands are almost always brass, polished and lacquered, with a book rest of about 11 to 14 in. Some are fixed; others adjust in height from 6.5 to 18 in. Floor lecterns here are solid wood with a tilted top and storage shelf.
A sacristan choosing an altar stand should check the book rest against the parish missal; the 14 by 10.5 in CCG-260 rest fits a full-size altar missal. Where celebrants of different heights preside, an adjustable stand such as the CCG-234 or the ornate CCG-342 avoids propping the book. The Trinity San Pietro stand suits a traditional sanctuary. For a parish hall or school chapel, the Yadlan wood pulpit gives a reading surface with storage.

The altar edition of the Roman Missal is a large, heavy book. A book rest of roughly 11 by 10 in or larger is needed. The 14 by 10.5 in rest on the CCG-260 holds it with margin. Smaller chapel missals fit any of the stands here.
A fixed stand is simpler and has no moving parts to loosen. An adjustable stand lets a tall or short celebrant set the page height without tilting the book. Parishes with several priests or a deacon who reads from the altar usually prefer adjustable.
Lacquered brass needs only dusting and an occasional wipe with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not use brass polish, which strips the lacquer and leaves bare metal that tarnishes. Keep the stand dry and away from candle wax drips.
The Yadlan pulpit ships flat with pre-drilled holes, hardware and instructions, and is assembled on site. The brass missal stands arrive ready to use. Allow time before a liturgy to assemble a lectern and check that it stands level on the floor.
